시스코에서는 2007년 10월 자사의 아이디어 공모전 '시스코 I-Prize'에서 새롭게 선보인 시스코의 실시간 온스테이지 텔레프레즌스(On-Stage TelePresence)라 는 기술을 통해 8000마일 이상 떨어진 미국 캘리포니아 산호세에 있는 마틴 드 비어 부사장과 마주보며 대화하는 모습을 보여 주었다.
이 기술은 ‘뮤션(Musion)’이라는 비디오 영사 솔루션 제공 기업의 특수효과 기술을 이용한 것이라고 한다.
이 기술이 소형화되고 장소에 구애 없이 밝은 곳에서도 충분히 사용할 정도의 광학기술이 적용된다면 앞으로의 디스플레이는 3D 홀로그램으로 갈 것이 분명하다.
