화질 좋아지고 휴대도 편해 기업·가정서 수요 크게 늘어…올 시장규모 3,000억 넘을듯
발광소자(LED)기술을 이용해 화질이 개선된 데다 크기도 크게 줄어든 ‘미니 프로젝터’ 시장이 쑥쑥 성장하고 있다.
27일 관련업계에 따르면 삼성전자ㆍLG전자ㆍ엡손ㆍ옵토마 등이 화질이 크게 개선되고 크기도 손바닥 정도로 기존 프로젝터의 절반 수준에 불과한 ‘미니 프로젝터’를 경쟁적으로 내놓고 있다.
프로젝터는 PC나 TV에 연결, 대형 스크린으로 영상을 즐길 수 있는 반면 가격도 비싸고, 무겁다는 게 큰 흠이었다. 하지만 최근 판매되는 미니 프로젝터는 가격도 100만원 밑으로 떨어진 데다 휴대하기도 간편해 기업뿐 아니라 가정용으로도 큰 인기를 끌고 있다. 특히 LED를 광원으로 사용해 화질도 기존 프로젝터에 비해 크게 개선됐다.
미니 프로젝터 시장은 가정용 수요 증가에 힘입어 지난 2005년 2,100억원 규모에서 지난해에는 2,500억원으로 성장했다. 프로젝터 업계는 올해 시장 규모는 3,000억원을 넘어설 것으로 전망하고 잇다.
미니 프로젝터 시장은 삼성전자와 LG전자가 주도하고 있다. 삼성전자는 지난해 무게가 700g에 불과한 미니 프로젝터 ‘포켓이미저(SP-P300MK)’를 80만원대에 출시했다. 이 제품은 전용 배터리를 장착해 외부 전원을 연결하지 않아도 2시간 이상 사용할 수 있다. LG전자는 올 1월 세계에서 가장 밝은 초소형 프로젝터 ‘울트라 모바일 프로젝터’를 선보였다. 이 제품은 무게가 750g으로 휴대하기에 간편할 뿐 아니라 일반 프로젝터 보다 높은 색(色)재현율을 자랑한다.
옵토마도 무게 1.24kg의 미니 프로젝터 ‘EP 7150’을 최근 출시했다. 이 제품은 노트북PC 가방에 쏙 들어갈 수 있을 정도의 크기로 자동셋업 기능과 내장형 스피커, 포인터 겸용 리모컨 등을 갖추고 있다. 이밖에 엡손은 무게가 500g에 불과한 초경량 미니 프로젝터를 조만간 선보일 예정이다.
